Days In The Blackberries Field

warmest day ends up ~
sun hides behind mountain
leaving the sky dark
worms buried within
wake up digging everywhere
~  the madness begins
roses spread their thorns
turning butterflies in moths
~ nightingales become ravens
angels and devils
meeting on a battle ground
~ crossing wings and swords
new morning arrives
air mixed with a smell of rain
~ hot coffee lures

There is tension in these haiku – in the middle few, that can a hard edge. Very interesting, and rescued by the last morning haiku. Angels and devils certainly speak of a battle within!
