Tanka For The Rose

08 Jul

Days In The Blackberries Field

Oh, beautiful rose,
why are you withered early?
Calling out your name
mother’s tears on the coffin
today cannot wake you up.

Ouch– this is beautiful, but it also felt like being punched in the stomach (poetically speaking) — the pain, the mother’s tears at losing her flower — an exquisite tanka.

I know, I’m sorry. I’m still under impression of something that I watched in a real life. Too sad, life is sometimes so unfair.

Nothing to apologize about — sometimes poetry stings.
I’m so sorry that you witnessed this in a real life — sending healing thoughts to you and to the family.

Thank you, Jen. She was not my blood family but my ex pupil who I met as shy 10 years old girl. She was someone who constantly reminded me what is the biggest value of my profession. Your post on CD was so beautiful and touching, thank you.

Even though tears are sometimes futile, we cannot help but weep…

The saddness of this tanka shakes the soul, that life withers in our children is one of the most terrible tradgedies of life.

Unfortunately things like this happen. Only mother knows her pain.
